Whitley 10k and Fun Run

Seemingly all ‘Running Roads’ led to Whitley for the 27th Fun Run and 10 k race which took place on 19th April.
There were approximately four hundred 10k and 103 Fun Runners taking part. For the first time about ten toddlers were pushed by parents around the course in their buggies!

During the prize ceremony the death was announced of the Rev Martin Whitwell who started organising the Fun Run in 1983 when he was vicar of St Lukes, Whitley. The addition of the 10k was taken on by Dave Bettles and Cliff Straw several years later becoming the popular event it is today with runners from a wide area of the North West competing.

Electronic tagging was used for the first time this year which made the clocking of the runner times much easier to establish as they ran past the finishing lineDouble click to edit
